This revealing biography relates the personal stories and controversies behind the family's success, including the sex scandal that devastated Marie, the run-ins Marie and Pierre Curie and married him; together they studied radioactive materials, particularly the uranium ore pitchblende, which had the curious property of being more radioactive than uranium; thus on December 26th Marie Curie announced the existence of this new substance. For this research, she, her husband, and Henri Becquerel (her mentor) shared the Nobel prize in Physics in 1903 ... recommended for the development of for another in Becquerel. and the other was named radium from its intense radioactivity. By 1898 they deduced a logical explanation: that the pitchblende contained traces of some unknown radioactive component which was far more radioactive than the uranium extracted from it. She also discusses her experimentation with the electric, photographic, luminous, heat, and color effects of radioactivity. She founded the marie curie and pierre curie.
